Welcome to my blog! My name is Ashleigh. I am currently in my second year as an international medical student in the Caribbean. I have a Bachelors degree in Spanish and International Health, with an Emphasis in Health Administration. I am also a student blogger for Merck Manuals – Med Student Stories.
In 2009, I helped with medical missions for two weeks in Manila, Philippines. I was also blessed with the opportunity to study abroad in San Jose, Costa Rica during my Spring 2014 semester in college. There, I completed over 120 hours through an internship at Carlos Duran Clinic, where I shadowed general physicians and assisted various medical staff. I also became fluent in Spanish.
Currently, I’m interested in the medical field of gastroenterology. I’m the oldest of 5 children, and in my spare time, I love to blog, travel to new places, and play with my 2 pups, Mango and Remi! I love to blog because it gives me a creative outlet to de-stress, promote valuable information, as well as benefit others with my passion for writing. I love using my resources and talents to help others!
Thank you for your support and I hope you enjoy my postings. Don’t forget to ‘like’ Island MedStudent Blog on Facebook to stay up-to-date on the new posts!
