Being the “Bearer” of Bad News

Someday, as future physicians, we are not only going to be educating and helping our patients. We will have to give bad diagnoses and bad news to patients and their families. This is one of the more difficult aspects of medicine because, as physicians, we want to do it in the most respectful and compassionate way as possible. No one wants to hear bad news, but it will be a part of our jobs to do so. Check out my post on MERCK Manuals to read about giving bad news to patients.
