I just got back to the island from a much-needed break! I didn’t realize it at the time but I had almost 3 weeks to relax. I had such a great time being back in the States! First, I flew to Florida to spend a few days with my boyfriend and saw his university. I got to meet some of his friends and hang out with his cousins. We went to a little nature park with natural swamps and saw 5 alligators! It was so relaxing to sip coffee and enjoy nature for a little bit.
I also didn’t realize how much I used to take the little things for granted. I walked into a mall and felt like a kid in a candy store! It had been so long since I had been to a mall. I also enjoyed a LOT of Starbucks and Chick-fil-a when I was back in the States, of course! 😉 Being away for school really teaches me how to live in the moment and appreciate everything I am blessed with everyday!
After 3 days of being in Florida, we then drove down to Miami to meet with the rest of his family. I finally met his family for the first time and I love every one of them! They were so sweet and welcoming. They were very patient with my Spanish and made me feel accepted. The next day, we all flew down to the Dominican Republic and spent 5 days at an all-inclusive resort. It was my first time at a resort like that, and I had SO much fun! There was so much food and drinks! I had a great time bonding with his cousins and family.
After the week of tropical vacation, I finally got to go home and see my family. I didn’t realize how much I missed them! It’s always so good to go back home. I got to sleep in and hang out with our pups, and I even spent a night at my sister and brother’s new apartment. I ran errands with my mom and sister, and hung out with my best friend a lot. I felt like nothing had changed and it felt so good! However – a good break at home always makes it hard to come back to school! I was a little more upset to leave this time, but I know that I will see them again soon. My parents may even be coming down to visit me this semester, so that’s another thing to look forward to! Time to start a new semester and get back into the swing of things!
